More and more I realized that tango is not a dance to be done, but a passion that turns into movement. So it is not that I am passionate about dancing it, because depending on the milonga, music, partners, the degree of desire to dance fluctuates. It is probably more accurate to say that I automatically dance when passion pushes itself through the music for me. And no excuse, I am getting to know all the songs and what they say. 🙂
I loved the part where Pedro talked about how he has “lived” through tango. And I am so happy that I recognized those lyrics from “Sur.” Although we are foreigners, I think it’s not so difficult to be connected to the old life in the barrios. Human emotions are all the same. If we can get into a movie or a novel and feel as if that was our own life, then we can sink into a song and its feelings also.
Thanks for sharing this interview of a true and valued milonguero. I always love listening to him talking about the essence of the tango.
…. really like the way he walks…..
…..like some one said, tango is a lot than just a dance… Tango is a very special piece of Buenos Aires’s sub-urban culture ;-)…. your interviews just show this…. great service you are doing for tango….. 😉
